About Us

SciFiAdFullLogoWelcome to Adventures in Scifi Publishing, podcasting about science fiction and fantasy literature since 2006. While this little endeavor began as Shaun’s solo effort, a team of dedicated volunteers now donate their time and talent to bring our listeners and readers interviews with authors, editors, agents, and publishers as well as book reviews of the newest titles on the market. You can learn more about our team below, and please use the Books by AISFP Contributors page to learn about our fiction.

If you are a publisher, publicist or author who would like us to consider a book for review, please email us with information about your book, the genre, and scheduled publication date. Please note that we rarely feature horror or books with graphic covers. We cannot promise to review books offered us, but we do our best to review as many books as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Additionally, books mailed to us will be featured on the Books Received page. Books are listed in the month in which the title arrived to our studio, not the publication month. Please email us for our address if you would like to send us books for consideration.

Thank you for visiting us. We hope you find something here to inspire, inform, and entertain!

Shaun Farrell
Founder

Shaun started Adventures in Scifi Publshing because he loves speculative fiction. Plain and simple. And, one day, he would like to sell his fiction professionally. His fiction has appeared in the anthologies The Ray Gun Chronicles and The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences. He has written articles for Strange Horizons, Clarkesworld Magazine, GateWorld, Far Sector SFFH, and non-genre magazines.

Shaun handed over the reins of Adventures in SciFi Publishing in March 2015 to Brent Bowen in AISFP Episode 288. Shaun lives in Northern California with his wife and two children.

Brent Bowen
Executive Producer

Turned onto reading at an early age–the product of bible stories given as punishment for stealing candy from a drug store–Brent Bowen devours books of all genres. And though Samson and Delilah is still one of his favorites, he would prefer to blend mysticism with archeologist canines and plasma armor.

Since then, Brent’s first paid, published story was a tweet (per word it’s a pretty good gig), and he’s studied with Elizabeth Bear, Debra Doyle, Steven Gould, James Macdonald, Laura J. Mixon, Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden, and John Scalzi at the 2009 Viable Paradise XIII writer’s workshop. Brent lives in a Kansas City suburb with his wife, two children, mutt Monty and pretty boy golden retriever Rufus. Learn more about Brent and his work at Split Legend. You also can follow Brent on Twitter.

His first short story publication, Cornhusker: Demon Gene (A Short Story), is now available on Kindle for $.99. His first non-trunked novel, Kaimerus, is described as “Firefly crashes on Avatar and wakes up 28 Days Later.” His dream is writing full-time where he can snowboard and play with Huskies. Currently, he lives in Des Moines, Iowa, and his wife lets him have a Husky wall calendar, so he’s “this” close.

Jordan Ricks (100x100)Jordan Ricks
Contributor

Jordan started reading genre fiction when Goosebumps hit the shelves during the third grade. He picked up a copy of Ender’s Game a few years later, and then read all six original Dune novels in quick succession. He’s been devouring all things speculative ever since. Thanks to all the reading, the writer bug caught him at a young age–now he just has to learn how to finish writing what he starts. Jordan attended Orson Scott Card’s Writing Class in 2007, and David Farland’s Death Camp in 2009. One day he will finish his college education, and then go on to rule the world. For the time being, he slaves away in a frame shop in Utah, gold-leafing picture frames for artists and designers around the world. When not working for the man, Jordan spends his time at home with his wife and two kids. He usually has an audiobook playing in his ear.

You can catch him on his blog every once in a while at www.jordanricks.blogspot.com, and on twitter @jrdnricks.

Gregory Pellechi is a freelance journalist, communications consultant and science fiction fan currently living and working in Cambodia. He wishes he had more free time to read and write – the latter of which he does far too little of for himself. Greg will read just about anything including pamphlets in Spanish about influenza (always as if it’s a script from a Telenovela), but prefers Cyberpunk, Speculative Fiction and Star Wars. You can visit his blog at www.gregorypellechi.com but be warned he hasn’t posted anything to it in months. He’s more active on Twitter (@SvenNomadsson); just remember the time difference if you’re expecting a prompt reply.
